October 2017 Jewellery Box UK Purchases and Review

Jewellery Box UK – My October Purchases

I love to buy jewellery for friends and family as gifts, there is something about finding the exact thing that you know they would like. When you order it and it arrives all boxed up and beautiful… This blog post is about an order for myself, but I am not ruling out a Christmas Gifts based order before the year is out. Jewellery Box UK have an excellent range and their website is easy to navigate and search.

Upon previous orders from this company I have been impressed with the quality and the choice. So when I wanted some new “every day” earrings (as I like to call them) I knew which website to search.

This time my order arrived inside the Jewellery Box UK personalised envelopes. A professional way to keep the stock separate in transit and you know that all the products are brand new and sealed within their plastic.

Another feature that wasn’t apparent last time I ordered was the addition of the Jewellery Box packaging, bits of cardboard attached to the items.

Having graduated lobe piercings on both of my ears I often purchase earrings that go together, in order for them to look symmetrical. I particularly like sterling silver jewellery and usually choose this metal for my sensitive skin too.

Upon browsing for my usual 2mm, 3mm and 4mm silver ball studs though, I noticed they were now selling a sterling silver and rose gold plated ball stud at a 3mm size. Intrigued, and because I had a discount code, I added them to my basket.

And as you will notice on the image above there is one other earring set, I chose some very tiny arrow earrings. For a very personal reason to me, mainly to cut a long story short, the arrow represents moving forward, and I am currently going through a difficult time in my life, one that requires courage and by wearing my earrings they remind me of how strong I can be if I only believe in myself.

Final Review of Each Item and Links

I only have one small criticism about the order. I don’t like to keep my earrings, after use but between wears inside any plastic, once worn they need to breathe. There wasn’t an option to perhaps purchase a small earrings box to place them in, or add one for free to an order over a certain amount. The order does come in those amazing envelopes and that’s wonderful to send out and also to gift to people, but when it comes to storage, I am now running low on things to put my many earring styles in to. You wouldn’t want to bend any of them.

Also, an option to purchase a small silver cleaning cloth with a large order, for a small discount might be a good idea too? I like to clean my silver jewellery every couple of months with a professional silver cleaning cloth, it helps to maintain them and also keeps them looking shiny. Just a few thoughts for you Jewellery Box, I hope you don’t mind my honesty. The products you sell are amazing quality and I love the amount of choice, but the products need caring for once you’re home using them…

I will now outline each item, the price advertised on the website (correct on the date I published this post) and also give a link to that specific item. As well as my final review scores I will be writing out some relevant information about each item that I know some of you would be wondering about.

How To Make Your Own Autumnal Looking Bracelet

✩✩✩ Welcome to Sabrina’s How To Make! ✩✩✩

Today The Post Is “How To Make Your Own Autumnal Looking Bracelet”.

✩ Before We Begin… What You Will Need;

Elastic + Scissors to Cut
Seed Beads in Red/Orange/Yellow/Brown/Green
Leaf Shaped Beads – Any Colour That Matches The Seed Ones
Other Autumn Coloured Beads In Various Sizes – You Need A Few Large Ones
Crimp Beads – Large Enough To Thread (3mm approx)
Creative Inspiration from Nature or the Internet or Me!
Bead Board – Not Essential – A Pot or Bowl so Beads don’t roll away though…

✩ Time Frame

A bracelet like this would usually take me around 2 hours to make from start to finish. That includes doing a basic design for it and placing the beads on to my board for a general idea of what the finished piece may look like.

✩ Video ✩

If you would prefer to watch my video first and come back to this blog post later on then by all means do. It might be easier to see how I make mine before you attempt your own, if you’re a first time maker.
The link to my channel is here.

How To Make Your Own Triple Thread Autumnal Bracelet

✩ Step 1. ✩

Once you have designed your bracelet, be it in your head, on a bead board or on paper, assemble the components you will need in order to make it. Gather them all together in one place and make sure it’s well lit and a flat surface.

✩ Step 2. ✩

Begin by cutting your elastic to size. You will need three identical lengths if you wish to do a triple thread. If this is your first time beading then I would recommend you either try a single thread or a double if you’re feeling creative and adventurous. To start measure around your wrist, then leave at least an inch or 4cm of elastic over, in order to manipulate the beads and tie at the end.

If you’re not confident with using the elastic to pull on and off you can buy a bracelet clasp and attach that on to either end, it’s very simple and if anyone needs help leave me a comment.

Once you have the one, two or three pieces of elastic, you then need a 1mm/2mm/3mm crimp bead to hold them in place. Let’s say you’re doing a triple, you need to thread all three pieces of elastic into the crimp bead, make sure they are level and leave a 1cm over hang (at least), then using flat edged pliers, squash the crimp bead flat into place.

You’re now ready to start your bead design.

✩ Step 3. ✩

There is NO Wrong way to have designed it, it’s your bracelet!!! Go for it! Start by using a small bead, remember that symmetry often looks good at times but you can literally do whatever you want!

TIP: Remember if you’re doing a triple thread to work out matching lengths between the sections. If you want one that looks like mine then figure out what beads go together, larger and smaller, before you thread them. That way you can make the bracelet look more 3D and it will stand out as the sections don’t lie flat against the skin.

✩ Step 4. ✩

Keep working your bracelet until you are 100% happy with it. Remember by doing a crimp at one end nothing will fall off while you’re working (providing you’re the one holding the other end!!!). And that way if you don’t like a section you can just slide them all off and start again.

TIP: Once you’ve finished your bracelet pop it down and look at it carefully. Make sure there are no sharp beads that may hurt you when you wear it. Also make sure that you have enough room to tie at the end but it also will fit comfortably over your wrist.

✩ Step 5.

Once you’re finished with the design, happy with it, and you know that you have plenty of room to finish the bracelet, then you need to choose a large bead in order to cover up the ends. I ended up having to change my plans during the end of my video, I had a large red and black bead picked out, but it wouldn’t fit. I ended up having to use a dark green, which was fine, it still fitted in with my Autumn theme.

Push the large bead on to the end of the bracelet that you just completed, and ensure it’s large enough to contain all the threads. (If you’re not sure see my video or one of the photographs).

To complete your bracelet you will need a large crimp bead, and some pliers and a steady pair of hands. What you need to do is gently remove the first original crimp bead from the end that we began with using the pliers, you should now have two sets of loose ends, each have between one and three elastic strands.

You need to thread all (up to six) pieces through the new crimp bead. Once through you clamp it down hard using the pliers, and then you pass the ends through that large final bead you placed on. The ends should fit through the larger bead so they cannot be seen now. You’re finished!

✩ If you don’t know much about beads…

There will be some of you out there reading this and thinking, what are all these?! Well here is a little guide from me about the basic types of beads and then I will do a list of my top places to get beads from too!

✩ Types of Bead ✩

Seed Beads
Small beads in every colour you can possibly imagine! Also known as just “Round Beads” they can be very tiny or they can be up to 3 or 4mm wide. I used a variety of colours and sizes in my bracelet, take a look at the images. Nowadays you can get a range of Seed Beads, some in Triangular Shapes and even Square! These are hard to find but so fun! Usually made from glass that is heated and cut and molded until it is smooth.

Glass Beads
Completely made from Glass they are often more expensive and quite heavy compared to plastic. They can often be incredible colours and patterns though, depending on what you’re making worth the price for a couple. Usually quite large in size and oval or round is easy to find.

Bugle Beads
Small but long cut beads, Bugle beads are found in many colours and lengths. Usually round ended tubular shapes, they can be as small as a couple of millimeters (0.5) but also very long up to 2cm.

Crimp Beads
Usually only a couple of millimeters in diameter, they are used to hold jewellery sections in place. They are used by being squashed using pliers. Delicate and often in silver colour, they range in sizes and are usually sold as a small packet.

Gem Stone Beads
Gem Stone Beads are just that, made from actual rock, stone or precious gems. Usually more expensive than your standard plastic ones but you cannot believe the quality and the beauty of some available.

Faceted Beads
Beads that are cut so they that have many sides to them. They are often shiny because of their multiple faces and are usually made from fire polished glass.

Delica Beads
Delica is the modern term for a Japanese bead that is perfectly cylindrical and often small in size. They are thinly produced so they have large holes through them.

Rondelles Beads
Very compressed originally round beads, often have many sides and make great finishing beads. Also ideal as spacers, thin ones can often be made of wood or glass.

Shaped Beads
Such as Flowers and Leaves. Usually made from Plastic or Glass in varying sizes and colours. Pick them up at good bead shops or online.

✩ Other Cool Beads To Look Out For ✩

Pearl Beads
Crystal Beads
Drop Beads
Wooden Beads

May 2017 Treatbox Reveal

Hello and Welcome to the May 2017 Treatbox Reveal.

Happy May Day to you all! Most of us have received our boxes early due to the United Kingdom having a Bank Holiday today, so I’m very happy to be bringing you this post on the first day of the new month.

As always if you would prefer to watch my unboxing video over on my channel then I will include a link to it after my reveal.

This month was a pretty lilac tissue paper inside with a sticker that read ‘made just for you’. The Calendar print has May with beautiful feathers all around it, I see a theme appearing here. On the back is the usual description of the types of items we can find inside. I don’t tend to dwell on this too much, although an interesting read afterwards, I’m eager to see what is inside my actual box.

For the May Treatbox theme we have feathers and relaxation. Positive energy and inspiration are at the forefronts of the box with postcards and bath salts. A beautiful scarf (which I am very thankful of because it is still cold here at the moment) and a quote plaque. Stickers for being creative and a gorgeous print showcasing the talent of a UK illustrator. This is the May Treatbox.

Here is the full list of items available, and remember there are always variations in the types and the colours, so that everyone gets a slightly different combination inside their box… There are 8 main items in this Treatbox, however if you’re counting the Postcards individually we actually received 18 items this time…

Calendar Print for May with Feathers details
‘Home’ Black and White Print by Simona Matuozzo
Gold Plated Moon and Stars Necklace
10 Mini Postcards with Quotes and Inspiring Sayings
Scarf – Grey Feathers
Stickers – Set of 24
Coopers Apothecary – Vanilla Rose 100% Natural Bath Salts
Home Accessory – Glass Hanging Plaque – Black Border ‘Love the Life you Live, Live the Life you Love.’

Here are more detailed images of all of the items contained within my box this month.

This beautifully detailed print is designed and drawn by Simona Matuozzo an illustrator based in Birmingham. She creates bespoke both hand drawn with ink and also digital illustrations. Her work is often highly detailed, and as with the print we have in our boxes this month, you can see from my macro photograph just how intricate the drawings are.

Here are the details of the Feathers on the Scarf.

Made by Coopers, these bath salts are 100% natural, made with Organic ingredients and no artificial fragrances, with 100 grams of salts to help relax you.

My Favourites

My favourite items from this months box have to be the beautiful feather scarf, the home print and the stickers. I love scarves and as for the craft items, love them!
I don’t currently have somewhere I can hang the plaque but I will be holding on to it for when I can use it, I think the quote is lovely and rather true to life.

This box has been well thought out and I’m very glad that it was filled with positivity and of some items from companies that we haven’t yet seen before. I think it’s very important to support United Kingdom businesses and I love the Treatbox allows us to do that. It will be nice for me to try something made by a company I haven’t tried before, and I love that we have something to wear and keep too. Watch out for my future tweets and Instagram pictures to feature these items.

Are you thinking of ordering a TreatBox for yourself or for a gift for someone?
Then you can find Treatbox subscriptions and build your own box at their website https://treatboxuk.com/

If you aren’t sure on whether to try a TreatBox for yourself or not I would say order a one off box, and then if you’re happy with it you can always subscribe afterwards. Check out my previous posts on the Treat Boxes I have received so far, in this unique category of my website called ‘Treatbox’ especially for these box reviews and reveals – Severn Wishes – TREATBOX

Last week I won this adorable necklace on Twitter courtesy of My Purrfect Gift Box!

Jewellery Box UK – Unboxing, Reveal and Review

I adore sterling silver jewellery, and I wanted something a little different to wear for 2017. So at the end of last year while searching the internet for gift ideas, I saw these gorgeous studs that someone had tweeted about. I had not come across this wonderful company or their website until a friend on Twitter shared their own experience with ordering from them.

So what did I discover? Well Jewellery Box in the United Kingdom is based in South London and they have thousands of items of jewellery to choose from. Their range of unique designs include both sterling silver and 9ct gold available. I was only out to get silver, and searched through the various categories, and couldn’t believe the amount of choice!

Since June 2014 (when www.jewellerybox.co.uk launched) the team have offered fast, affordable and fun jewellery shopping. They pride themselves on being efficient and design forward, while keeping the quality high. All of these things inspired me to purchase from them.

Not only that, but I was able to get a necklace free of charge while spending a certain amount with them, a stunning snowflake for Winter, included in my order for free!

Over all I am pleased with the order that I made. Let me now show you photographs of the items, which I took after recording my initial unboxing video. Click the link at the end of the post for my YouTube account to watch the video which shows the items in details.

So I ordered an Arrow Necklace, Aquamarine Pull Through Earrings, Cat Head Stud Earrings, Open Triangle Necklace, and then I received the Snowflake necklace as well, as a complementary gift.

 My final Review for this order as a whole is;
Quality 5/5
Value for Money 5/5
Appearance 5/5
Delivery 5/5

Quality of the Jewellery; This jewellery is good quality and well made. I love the choice and the designs are unique and unusual. The sterling silver items are hallmarked with the ‘925’ stamp so you know they are great quality for the price.
Value for Money; I had the Snowflake necklace free with my order, and I still ended up with four more items for less than £29, and because I chose all sterling silver, I would expect the prices to be higher, very pleased with the value for money.
Appearance when worn; Both unusual and unique looking, the jewellery (especially the triangle necklace) are excellent additions to your jewellery sets. Its design is eye catching due to the shape, something that is both irregular and pretty. I like to be an individual, and with so much choice, this website allows me to choose an array of items to mix and match. I really like the arrow necklace because it’s dainty and cool, it also matches some earrings I got from Cherry Diva (search for that review on my categories).
Delivery; The jewellery was sent out quickly, and I was most impressed with the boxed items, which came with cute pegs and were appropriately packaged to keep the items secured. All of the packaging has the Jewellery Box logo on it, and it all looked very professional.

Overview
Thank you very much for reading this review and unboxing, I have loved sharing the pieces with you, when you find a good product or website it’s always good to shout about it, right? I am already considering more purchases and even some awesome gift ideas for friends for 2017. With so much choice and variations to choose from it’s a wonderful place to search for something new.

I hope you have enjoyed this post, I will put the website links at the end of the page for any of you who would like to browse the Jewellery Box products in my post or search for your birthstone or by metal for example. There are so many things to see, I can guarantee you it is worth a look.

Cherry Diva Black Friday Purchases and Review

On Black Friday I decided to treat myself on the Cherry Diva website when they offered a special 50% off discount. I had already browsed before hand and knew roughly what I wanted to go for. For me, sterling silver is a must, because I have sensitive skin. So I searched the Cherry Diva website for all items under this heading and then made my final choices…

Something that always catches my eye are unique designs that don’t look anything like your regular high street jewellery brands. I always try and be an individual, I like to think my style evolves from my loves in life and not what I see the majority of people buy.

I absolutely love an unusual necklace, and this one stood out to me as I scrolled on the website. The details and the purple stone, were what won me over this order.

When my order arrived I was very happy with it. The products were delivered in purple organza bags which were the perfect touch to my choices. The delivery time was also excellent considering it was the black Friday weekend.

I’m a sucker for going for anything purple or blue because they are my favourite colours. Both of my choices this time around were to do with the stone of Amethyst. I decided on the ring and a necklace, because the ring was finally back in my size after I eyed it up in the Summer months.

My final Review for this Necklace and the order as a whole is;
Quality 5/5
Value for Money 5/5
Appearance 5/5
Comfort 5/5

Quality; This necklace is sterling silver, good quality and well made.
Value for Money; I had a discount code of 50% off, which made this necklace excellent value for money.
Appearance; Both unusual and unique looking, this necklace is now a firm favourite of mine. It’s design is eye catching and pretty.
Comfort; The necklace is an excellent length for my neck size, and I am very happy with how comfortable it is against the skin.

Thank you very much for reading this review, I have loved sharing it with you, when you find a good item it’s always good to shout about it, right?

Graduated Lobe Piercings – Styles and Jewellery

lobe-jewellery-main-pic

Graduated Lobe Piercings

I made the decision many years ago to have more than one piercing in my ear lobes. And nowadays I’m rather glad because it’s on trend, and also grateful of the choice of jewellery that is available for me to wear.

Examples of the styles that I have come across more recently include a variety of shapes and also varying metals. I always prefer to purchase 925 sterling silver jewellery due to my sensitive skin, and that is what kind of jewellery will feature in my post today.

I will make a list of all the items shown within my blog post, so that if you wish to purchase any yourself you will find the links at the end of the page.

Graduated lobe piercings have been becoming more and more popular within the last five years or so. With both celebrities and regular people alike making the choice to adorn a variety of jewellery on their ears. Graduated piercings are now common on other parts of the ears now as well, such as cartilage.

So how do I wear mine? Well I normally take one particular symbol or style and wear it in all three of my piercings. I have more recently branched out into wearing various symbols all together, and I think this look can make you seem more individual, even pretty unique depending upon the jewellery, the possibilities for earring combinations are endless.

Styles and Jewellery

Any earrings can be included to make your lobes a graduated style, but usually they are earrings of the same type but in different sizes or metals. It can also be symbols that are similar and can be worn specifically in that combination, such as a space theme with a sun, moon and star, for example.

I don’t think you can go wrong with stars, and I wear them regularly. I don’t know anyone who doesn’t like stars and I often get compliments about mine.

These cute ones in the image below range in size from 3mm, 4mm and 5mm. They are available on Amazon UK from Heather Needham Silver.

dsc00438procswThis seller also sells a set of a sun, moon and star, as well as just a star and moon. I like the pieces in my next picture because it means you can add a further earring of your choice if you have a third piercing, or that you can just wear the two stud types if you only have two piercings in your ears.

stars-and-moons-swMore earring stud styles available from this amazon uk seller include Hearts, Stars, Moons, Circles, Triangles, Round with Silver or Cubic Zirconia and other symbols and shapes (such as the feathers/leaves in my image below). You can see the full range by visiting the sellers amazon page (links at the end of the post).

lobe-jewellery-pic-swHere are some images of the earrings in my own ears to show sample sizes, I do have quite small ears, you can normally find specific sizes on the sites that you purchase jewellery from.

earrings-four-sw earrings-one-sw earrings-two-swAnother site that I have previously purchased earrings from is Cherry Diva. They have a variety of sterling silver items for sale. These arrow earrings are fabulous, unique and highly detailed, I like that these kind of earrings can make your ears seem unusual because of the shape and orientation. You can wear them at whatever angle you please to suit your lobe shape.

earrings-one-three-sw

When it comes to body jewellery and piercings I usually get my labret studs online from sites such as Body Jewellery Shop and Piercing Mania. You can see my recent review from the latter site by searching in my category for Jewellery or Piercings.

The final place I regularly buy my earrings from is Argos. They have a wide range of sterling silver products including ones that are coloured cubic zirconia and also plain shapes.

My Review of the items that I have purchased from Heather Needham jewellery via Amazon are;
Quality 4/5
Value for Money 4/5
Delivery 5/5
Appearance 4/5

I found the quality of the earrings to be very good and the prices I paid for the sterling silver was also very reasonable. I gave the delivery a score of 5 because the earrings all came in individual sets and boxed, with professional postage and packaging so as nothing could be damaged.

Cherry Diva Jewellery Review

cherry-diva-2-swI recently purchased jewellery from Cherry Diva for the first time. I was drawn in partly because of a sale they had on, and also because I had wanted a pair of their earrings for almost a year and decided now was the time to get them. Just in case stocks changed and they no longer sold them, I didn’t want to wait too much longer in case I missed out.

These stunning earrings are made from sterling silver and are detailed crossed arrows. Being a fan of historical fiction and ancient history, as well as having participated in archery many times, I loved the unique look of this style.

arrow-earrings-2-swI always purchase sterling silver because I have sensitive skin. At Cherry Diva they have a range of sterling silver products and a great number of choices for all kinds of styles.

When delivered I was pleased to see that my earrings were sent to me in a pretty little silver box. I plan to keep my earrings in this case unless I am wearing them to try and keep the silver shiny and clean.

arrow-earrings-swSo that you can see the size of the earrings I have photographed one in front of a five pence piece.

arrow-earring-swThe other items I bought were two delicate nature inspired sterling silver rings. One has a large flower like a daisy and has hearts on the band. The other has three different kinds of small flowers on one thin band.

Being a photographer of nature primarily, I love anything to do with natural scenes and floral patterns. When I saw these rings, originally on a Cherry Diva photograph on Instagram, I fell in love with them.

flower-ring-2-swflowers-ring-1-swrings-1-sw rings-3-swI’m impressed with the quality of the silver and I just hope that the items remain in good condition over the time in which I use them. I was happy with the prices that I paid in the sale, I’m not sure if I would pay the prices individually, but collectively with a free delivery is tempting.

Trollbeads Bracelet Review

Trollbeads04SWHaving always admired companies who work hard to be different, I have followed Trollbeads for quite some time. Earlier in the summer I entered a competition of theirs to win a beautiful 2016 bracelet, and I was extremely lucky to be chosen as a winner.

Once I had received the bracelet I was over the moon with the details and the quality. So impressed in fact that I have decided to review the piece, and photograph it in macro detail so that you can see the quality first hand.

Once I have shown you my photographs I will give you some information about Trollbeads and where you can purchase a bracelet and charms for yourself. And I will give my final review scores of course. I hope you enjoy looking through my set of images.

Trollbeads09SWAs you can see from the images I have made of the bracelet, the quality and the attention to detail speaks for itself. Beautiful craftsmanship of the bracelet and the charm, as well as the unique looking clasp. The intricate bracelet itself with the chain is stunning against the skin, and with the addition of charms it can be made to be unique for the person purchasing it. I won the clover charm and clasp, which are three dimensional, highly detailed pieces.

Trollbeads14SWTrollbeads sent me this stunning bracelet in its very own bag, which brands the logo and date of the original founding of the company. Trollbeads originated in Copenhagen in 1976 and integrates beads with a variety of jewellery types such as necklaces, bracelets and bangles. They also work with earrings and rings made predominantly of metal. At the time of the first beads being created, it was popular to wear a bead on a piece of leather around your neck. Nowadays the Trollbeads company makes beads in all manner of shapes, colours and unique styles to accompany an array of jewellery. The first glass beads were created in 2001, and since then their collection has grown and grown. With more than 600 beads in collection now, Trollbeads has become popular in over 30 countries and has more than 90 international designers.
