How a simple Cropped Hoodie from BooHoo is changing the way I consider breastfeeding in Public this season

How a simple cropped Hoodie from BooHoo is changing the way I consider breastfeeding in Public this season

It’s not always easy to find comfortable and practical clothing that you can wear in the colder months that’s both suitable for breastfeeding and preventing you from freezing in the process. I’m like many other mum’s out there who consider buying things to help themselves out, are usually last on the list of priorities. However on a recent window shop scroll through the boohoo website I saw something that I knew for me would be a game changer. For £12 boohoo are selling cropped hoodies. This might not sound like anything special, but we’re fast heading into winter now. Considering I’ve been getting cold in cardigans and other loose articles of clothing that won’t get in the way of my son feeding… this was exactly what I had been waiting to find.

Not only has this hoodie allowed me to feed more comfortably, but it’s changed the way I feel about feeding my son around people who are not immediate family. It has given me confidence and hasn’t cost the earth. So many Maternity and Nursing items are highly priced, and at a time when you’re already forking out lots of money, you shouldn’t have to spend a ton on items to simply help you to accomplish what is both natural and a necessity for you and your baby.

The hoodie material is soft and thick, because it’s cropped it means that I can keep my arms inside the fabric, and just simply lift one corner to expose what I require for the feed.

This hoodie is ideal to wear all year round, with shorts and a T-shirt or with jeans and a tee in the colder months.

I’ve found this hoodie to be more than adequate for what I need, it’s both comfortable and practical, and doesn’t cost the earth either!

I highly recommend this style and quality of item from BooHoo and am very happy with the ones I bought.

As you can see me demonstrating in this image above, it’s easy to lift one corner of the hoodie. I normally am able to simply tuck the fabric up underneath and out of the way.

Heavily Pregnant At A Summer Wedding, Reviewing My Outfit Choices And How I Coped

Being Heavily Pregnant At A Summer Wedding,

Reviewing My Outfit Choices And How I Coped During The Day

I very recently attended a family wedding, which was really lovely and I thoroughly enjoyed the day and the evening. However being heavily pregnant there were some precautions that I needed to take for my safety, and also some decisions I had to make that some people might not have considered for themselves.

I wanted to write this blog post for two reasons, one is to review the items that I bought for my outfit and why I chose them. And reason two is because I hadn’t thought about some things until I was being a sensible adult and realised that quite a lot could be over looked. So I am sharing my experiences with you all today in this honest post.

Firstly I want to talk about my outfit. I’ve been quite lucky in regards my pregnancy, I haven’t put on a great deal of weight and I am mostly bump! However this proved tricky for me when I was shopping for maternity wear dresses…

Most places have taken into consideration people who may have gained weight all over, especially on certain areas like the bottom and boobs! However this isn’t me, and I tried on several beautiful items that sadly just made me feel like a sack of spuds! They gave me no shape or were too baggy in most areas…

So… then I decided to do a BooHoo order of two of their Maternity dresses, and there was one dress that fitted me well and I finally got some of my confidence back. Any pregnant woman will tell you, your confidence goes down after the second trimester, because everything makes you feel like your bump is massive (even if it isn’t) and I just wanted to flaunt my great figure and my bump too! But I just had to find something that made me feel like that.

Out of the two dresses I had from BooHoo the first fitted perfectly when I had my shoulders back and I stood tall, it was however a little low cut with a v-neck style. I knew how I wanted to fix this and decided to take myself off to New Look.

New Look always have what I want, I very rarely go into the store and come out empty handed. What I wanted to buy was either a crop top, vest or cami top that was pretty and high neck, and something that suited the dress too! My plan was to wear the top underneath and it look like it was just part of the dress. I wasn’t disappointed when I found the perfect top, and not only was it a great price, but I also got into my pre-pregnancy size because (as I mentioned) I haven’t put much weight on on my chest at all…

Finally I needed a pair of shoes to go with the dress and a cardigan if it were to be a cooler day. It was a good job that I bought a nice cardigan in the end because it turned out to be a rather windy day! And as for the shoes… well I got these gorgeous pregnancy friendly flat ballet shoes half price! What a successful shopping trip.

My ensemble of these items ended up looking like this… and I was very happy and comfortable (which was my main aim!) with what I chose. This is the practice dress up, I had leggings on in this image but swapped for tights on the actual wedding day. I also decided to add a white rose accessory clip in order to hold the dress snugly to the top underneath it.

I really like the pretty lace on these shoes, they aren’t just attractive though they are so comfortable to wear too. The price was excellent and I would happily wear them throughout the summer with any outfit they would go with. I already own many different colours and styles of this exact fitting shoe, I always go back to New Look when I need new versions, usually this is to match one to an outfit that I don’t already have a pair for.

These cardigans from New Look wash and wear really well. Would you believe me if I said I owned fourteen of these now? I have collected this style for over the past ten years, and whenever New Look release a new colour I usually buy it! I wanted this lovely light pink to go with my outfit and I am always pleased with this type of cardigan.

I was impressed with this cami top. Due to my baby bump I wouldn’t be able to wear it on it’s own this summer. However underneath other clothing to fill in gaps like I have done with my dress for this particular outfit, it works perfectly. It fitted really well and was comfortable too. Being mostly cotton I expected it to be of a good quality and it certainly was, it washed well too.

How I Coped During The Long Day

My main tips for coping during long days out are to carry a water bottle with you. In the summer it’s even more important to stay hydrated. Make sure that you take regular seated breaks to avoid any unnecessary swelling of your feet and ankles, especially if it’s a warm day. Make sure those who are attending with you know how to help you if you need it.

It’s a good idea to bring your hospital bag and notes with you in your vehicle if you’re going to be a long way from home for more than a few hours. At my stage of pregnancy I could easily have gone into labour, better to be prepared. Also look up your nearest hospital or maternity unit just in case!

I made sure that my outfit was lightweight overall and that I was comfortable from my head to my toes. Nothing was too restricting or tight. Another top tip of mine is make sure you do a test run of the outfit before the day, that way you can see if there are any issues with it that you may want to fix.

Clothing That Is Comfortable During Pregnancy, Maternity Wear Reviews and My General Clothing Hacks and Tips

╰☆╮Today It’s Time For A Pregnancy Clothing Post! ╰☆╮

I want to discuss my general clothing hacks I use to make pregnancy in the second trimester more bearable, and I want to talk about the clothing that I am finding most comfortable during these colder months of the year. Finally I will conclude with some Maternity Wear Reviews on items that I have purchased during January and have now thoroughly tested.

So I am now getting to that stage of my pregnancy where I need to consider what I am wearing. My regular jeans no longer do up and I am finding other clothing honestly pretty uncomfortable to wear, especially while seated. There are some things I can still get away with such as my Tunics, Long Jumpers, Jumper Dresses and stretchy Leggings. But there are other things that I have now decided it’s time to invest in, and I thought I would share my thoughts and experiences in case there’s anyone out there who needs some advice as they too get to this stage of their pregnancy journey.

Sabrina’s Top Tips

You might be looking at your wardrobe and thinking, baby is due then, I won’t be fitting into these items this year. Well fear not, because a few weeks ago I was feeling exactly the same. Get an old suitcase or a storage box and place everything that you love but you know you won’t fit into, inside it. You can always come back to them once you’ve lost some of the baby weight. Just because you’re pregnant doesn’t mean you can’t look good and be comfortable while doing so. Here are some of my shopping tips.

Always try your usual size in maternity wear before the larger size you think you might be. It may come as a surprise, but especially before getting to the third trimester many of us won’t be putting on all that much weight. Your baby grows steadily so you have plenty of time to make small adjustments to your wardrobe. I have still purchased Size 8 trousers for example, just Maternity ones with the added “Over Bump” material. Plus another tip is to always check the sale rails, at the end of line and end of season sales, you may just pick up some bargains. I managed to do just that and will be reviewing those items below.

One shop that I regularly rely on for Leggings is Primark. And the beauty of the sizes of their brand, it seems to me that you can often fit into more than one size. I am a size 8 usually, but I have just bought some size 10 and size 12 leggings that I find fit comfortably over my growing bump. Let me explain why I have chosen these, not only are they are much cheaper than the Maternity ones available online, but also if you aren’t very tall like me then you can usually buy a regular length or a long length style, and find that they will fit just like high waisted leggings – perfect! And they also wash well too being made of cotton or polyester! Mine only cost £3.50 a pair and I got 4 different colours as well. They are great for layering when heading out and for comfort when staying at home.

New Look

When I first began looking at Maternity wear I had recalled friends telling me they had shopped in New Look. I like the brand and I didn’t want to spend a fortune on these first few items just in case I grew out of them. But the weather is so cold in the UK at the moment I really needed to find a decent pair of Skinny Jeans or Jeggings that I could wear out and about, shopping and such.

After a few moments around my local store I realised there was barely any choices, and a lot of it was available online only now. So I settled for the only pair in the shop that I did like, they were soft to touch and also skinny as I had wanted.

They were called Emilee Under Bump Maternity Jeggings at £19.99. Soft material for both the legs and the bump section was why I purchased this pair. They are great on, and the bump part still has enough room for me to grow a little more into them. I was happy with them and hope once the weather is warmer I won’t need them as much. They washed well though too. The leg part was definitely true to size because I chose my regular UK size 8 and a 30″ leg and they were a perfect fit. Highly recommend them, there is way more choice online and I may invest in a blue pair of Over Bump at some point in time too.

Dorothy Perkins

During the January sales I was looking at certain tops but I didn’t want to invest in too many that branded themselves as just Maternity wear. I bought some Jumper Dresses from Dorothy Perkins that have enough give in the middle for a second trimester baby bump. They are soft and will keep me warm in these colder months. I have no doubt that they will also be perfect next Winter while I’m (hopefully) still loosing the baby weight. I have bought many Tunic style jumpers from DP’s over the past few years and find that the plain ones are great for the home and the bling ones are great for going out. I will review these items below and give any links still available.

BooHoo

I did however purchase a couple of Maternity jumpers from BooHoo in their January sale, these looked like regular tunic jumpers until you looked closer, but they had the slits either side to give room for a bump. I feel like I will be able to grow with these, but I could still wear them after I have had my baby as well. To be honest if I wear them right now they don’t look like they are specifically Maternity wear but I know they will become very useful the larger I grow. I was happy with what I paid and if they continue to wash as well as this first fortnight of having them, I assume they will last me through my pregnancy and beyond. I will review these items below and include photos and links where possible.

George at Asda

My final Maternity Wear order came from George at Asda. I really needed some work wear trousers, because I got to the point where any other sort was digging in to my tummy and making me rather uncomfortable. I work full time and I spend a lot of hours on my feet too, so I required something hard wearing, soft and easy to wear but also the correct material for my job role. Our uniform is specific and I needed to rely on the item to be washed several times and worn a minimum of 5 days a week.

I finally found the best looking, most positively reviewed and the best price online, maternity work trousers on the Asda website. George at Asda do have a fantastic maternity range, but most stores don’t stock the items, they are only available online. I had reservations at first because I always like to touch the material and try the items on, this time I just had to trust in my choices. I also had to pay a delivery charge which I thought was expensive, just for the convenience of receiving my items. A click and collect service available 9 days later would not have been suitable for me, I needed them within a day or two because I found I was growing overnight.

My order arrived by courier and was good in that sense, I was updated by email and by text which was very useful. The items themselves were all sealed individually so I knew that the contents were brand new, and I could tell by unpacking them they hadn’t been handled before. I had to guess what sizes I would need, and luckily everything fitted me and I haven’t needed to return anything. I went for my normal size, a size 8, because reviews on the website said most things fitted true to size. The maternity trousers were the items I was most impressed by. The main reason was because of how soft the material was that went over the bump. It was not only comfortable to wear but it was lightweight too and caused me no issues between sitting and standing.

I also purchased some over the bump leggings in a two pack and a two pack of short sleeved t-shirts for comfort around the house when I get a little bigger. I thought these were okay value for money, the materials used made the items soft and they washed well too.

Very soft material and comfortable to wear, the bump part still gives me room to grow into them. Purchased at 13 weeks pregnant and at 17 weeks they already fit way better and room for bump because they are lightly elasticated. Perfectly the right size for both my buttocks and my leg length, I chose my pre-pregnant trouser size and they are a great all round fit. Ideal for the colder weather days and the black looks great when paired with a bright top.

BooHoo: Maternity Mia Side Split Jumper.
Materials: Polyester 95% and Elastane 5%.
Colours Available: Camel, Khaki, Berry, Black or Grey LINK
Price: £15.00

Soft to touch with side splits in the fabric to accommodate a growing bump. I’m a UK size 8 and ordered a UK size 10 of each item. They fitted true to size on my shoulders with the arms ending at wrist length. I thought the overall length of the fabric was good, it will allow me to grow into them but is suitable for this stage and in weeks to come. Both items washed easily and were comfortable to wear all day. The material is quite thin but ideal for Winter layering by wearing a long sleeved thin tee beneath the jumper. I purchased these BooHoo jumpers in both black and in khaki green.

Although the jumpers are very nice and are comfortable to wear they are also very plain in appearance. Wearing a long necklace or a scarf to brighten the outfit up is ideal for days out. Where as I have purchased these for both inside and outside my house, wanting myself and bump to be warm and comfy throughout the next couple of months.

A very nice jumper and overall it is both soft and comfortable to wear. It is more of a Spring colour and length compared to the Tunic style jumpers I purchased (review above) but it is one I could wear around the house now and look forward to wearing in the warmer months to come. I believe there is still plenty of growing room to be had due to the side splits in the fabric, and the length of the arms were perfect for me. I purchased this in a UK size 10.

I have purchased some items from Dorothy Perkins in the January sale which I believe will double up as maternity items. These are all jumpers and in varying lengths. The tunics both have a nice zip detail in the lowest sixth of the material and are fitting on me true to size. I bought size 10’s in order to grow into them slightly but they were already fine around my shoulders. I am lucky enough to fit into the majority of brands clothes UK sizes of 8 and 10.

The yellow and black striped jumper was an impulse buy, I liked the pattern as well as the ruffled sleeves. It’s style reminded me of Peplum and it was a good quality material too. I thought I could wear it for the first few months of my second trimester, before my bump gets too big. It’s a stylish looking item that I would happily wear out with a pair of my maternity trousers. It was in the sale so there are limited sizes left, but it’s comfortable to wear and I would recommend it, the sleeves are a bit different and a nice change and addition to my wardrobe for Spring.

I looked into a variety of trousers that I could wear to my day job, but the place that I kept coming back to was George at Asda. Online they have a range of Maternity clothing at quite affordable prices too. I was drawn in by the price and the good reviews beneath the item. I wanted a pair of trousers that would be comfortable to wear at work all day, that would wash and wear well, and an item that would grow with me in the coming weeks. I decided it was best that I order two sizes, one my current size 8 and the other a size 10 that I could grow into if need be. Better to have both than to order a second delivery so soon.

I was impressed with the quality for the price, and they might be of thin material but they certainly are comfortable to wear, and it means that they dry quickly after washing too.

BooHoo Jessica Flat Over The Knee Boot Review

BooHoo “Jessica” Flat Over The Knee Boot Review

Today I am reviewing some lovely boots that I got in the January Sale over at BooHoo.com. I was lucky enough to buy on a day they gave 20% off, so it made these usually £35.00 boots just £28.00.

For the material and good quality of it at first inspection, I was satisfied with the price that I paid. I usually go for a low heel or generally flat boots, I always prefer to walk than take a bus for example, and I just can’t do that in Boots that have 4″ heels! Ha! Ha!

I was a little disappointed there was very little grip on the base of the shoes, you would assume a Winter boot would have something to allow you to be more stable on your feet. That said I have bought these boots to wear indoors, shopping and meeting friends etc. I don’t plan to walk any long distances outside in them.

Those of you who know me and know how I blog, know that I don’t just wear something for an hour and then review it. I like to test the products fully and give my honest opinions. I would usually wear and wash with all new clothing I test, where as with shoes I like to wear them for a good distance, check the wear and tear of the sole both inside and out.

I will now outline some details about the Boots themselves, before giving more information on the scores I have given them and why.

Product: BooHoo “Jessica” Over The Knee Boot
Colour: Black
Heel: 2cm / 1.5″

Height: 63cm / 24″
Materials: Synthetic – Feels like Suede
Price: £35.00
Sizes Available: 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8

✩✩✩

Overall Thoughts, Scores and Outfit Ideas

My first thoughts when I put the Boots on were how comfortable they were. The soft suede like material on the outside is replicated on the inside with another smooth material which feels like a polyester or similar, that allows them to glide on and off your legs with ease, but they also didn’t fall down while walking which is another bonus.

You can wear these boots with a versatile array of wardrobe favourites. Skinny Jeans, Skirts, Short Dresses and even Leggings and a Tunic would work well too. Because the style is Black they go with a majority of Fashion. I love to wear long boots and long tops, dress this style up with a scarf and some jewellery on your arms. You can even dress them up for a night out by wearing a sparkly top, dress or jumper.

Appearance 5/5
A nicely patterned, sown together pieces that have various panels of the fabric that can be seen. I also love how the fabric is cut at the top of the boots, there is a length shorter that sits along the back of your knee, it means the boot is comfortable whether you’re sitting or standing. The shapes of the sown parts are flattering to the leg too. When I first got them out the box and photographed them they almost seem ruched because of where they had been folded, but the creases soon fell out while I wore them.

Delivery 5/5
I had them delivered next day and it was less than twenty four hours, I am nearly always impressed with the BooHoo delivery service. These boots were delivered in their own box and also each boot was inside a slip. Suede boots should be stored in thin cotton bags or a similar material so the fabric is able to breathe. Then stored somewhere at room temperature and no where near damp. The box however is very handy for things like Summer Shoes that can be stored away for the next couple of months now.

General Wear 5/5
I’m impressed with how the Boots felt when walking, they were rather comfortable. This is down to soft material through the entire boot and I only wore one pair of socks with these boots, and found that they fitted my feet true to size. The sole of the boot is designed with a smooth curve at the front which didn’t squash my toes. The cut design at the top of the boot allows them to be well fitting when sitting or standing.

Quality 4/5
The overall quality of the Boots I have scored at a 4. When I choose new shoes or boots I’m looking for several things to tick in my boxes. These boots get points for the feel when wearing, the softness of material used, the unusual stitched pattern and they also fit true to size.
However it did loose an overall one point for quality. The point loss comes from the lack of grips on what is meant to be a Winter Boot, I wouldn’t feel safe wearing these on an icy morning to work.

Value for Money 4/5
I purchased these Boots for £35.00 (discounted to £28.00 on an offer) and believe they are good value for money, if only they had a better sole attached then it would be a full house. I am hoping the Quality and Value will remain for the time that I continue to wear them, I know that only time will tell.

Pro: Soft Material and ideal for keeping warm in Winter due to their long length up to the knee. Comfortable to wear due to the soft material inside and outside of the boots.

Con: You need to spray them before wearing them outdoors and don’t ever wear them outside in very wet weather. Most shoe shops sell the water and suede protecting spray for a few pounds. Another con is the lack of grips on the sole of the shoes.

I hope you have enjoyed reading this review and you have enjoyed reading about these particular style of Boots. If you aren’t sure about this style here are a few other £35.00 Black Boots that BooHoo currently have in stock. Just click the link on this image to go over to their Boot section of their website. Using BooHoo Shorts and Iron On Patches to Create my own Unique looking Embroidery Style

Using BooHoo Shorts and Iron On Patches to Create my own Unique looking Embroidery Style Summer Shorts

In the blog post today I am going to be explaining how I managed to make these awesome, unique, and I have to say pretty cool looking embroidery style shorts.

(The Sunflower, Palm Tree and Eye were already sown on).

The original shorts are from BooHoo, I will pop a link to them at the end of the post…

(All the Patches I have had in my Treat Boxes and Artemis and Xena Box!)

The Iron On Patches have all been from past Treat Boxes, the first one I received is from a whole year ago! And it has been sat in a drawer waiting to be used.

I saw the shorts ages ago when I placed an order, to replace an old black pair. And then I had an idea! Seeing as they already had a couple of patches sown on to them, why not add to them! I decided exactly what I was going to do… and this is the result!

If you ever did this as a child, then you had a great childhood! Picking an iron patch in the local shop, taking it home and choosing an item of your clothing for it to go on to. Usually a denim jacket in the 1990’s with patches covering the back! But I wanted to spruce up these already great shorts! I hope you like what I did!

Here are the Treatbox Iron On Instructions and a closer look at the beautiful Rainbow patch that we had last year in our August 2016 box.

Here is a closer look at the Flamingo and Pineapple which were in the July 2017 box.

Recommending to use a handkerchief or an old pillow case to place over the patch while you are ironing is not only a tip but a definite necessity.

This lovely Cup Cake Iron On Patch came out of the Artemis and Xena Box I had earlier on this year in March.

Getting down to the ‘How To Do This’ Part of the blog post now, and basically just be creative! Make sure that you get patches that are good quality, and make sure you choose both areas of the fabric that are easy to iron on to, and choose a fabric that can be ironed on a high heat without it getting damaged!

Otherwise just follow the instructions carefully and make sure you do this with an adult if you’re of a young age.

My final tip is to play around before ironing anything on, you might change your mind. Imagine wearing the item and where the patches will be when you do. Once you’ve made a final decision why not ask someone in your family for their opinion, it couldn’t hurt. And remember this is a creative and fun activity you can do as a family if you all wanted to participate.

SS17 Fashion Trends, How To Wear Them This Season And How To Combine Your Current Wardrobe

Welcome to today’s Blog Post, in this piece I am going to be discussing the main Fashions for this Spring and Summer. How you can wear them this season, and how you can combine new items with your current wardrobe to stay on trend.

There are several main trends this year, and the majority of them have been doubled up to ensure maximum ‘on trend’ efficiency. Brands seem to be fusing together different styles to create new ones. I will give you an example, Denim and Embroidery. A lot of companies are now uniting various denim styles with patches and sown on patterns. Of course this relates back to some of the 1990’s fashion trends that saw embroidery on a variety of things, including jeans. But now it seems to be on everything, from T-Shirts to Jackets, Jeans to Coats… Other examples have been gradually making a come back, hinting on 1920’s and 1930’s fashion, with cold shoulders, bardot tops and dresses and of course lots of lace.

I will now list all of the trends that I have come across through research, personal shopping trips and reading about what is appearing on the latest catwalks, so that you can see what I’m talking about. Here are most of the current trends…

✩ Denim and Embroidery ✩
✩ Embroidery and Lace ✩
✩ Denim and Pink ✩
✩ Lace and Cold Shoulder ✩
✩ Cold Shoulder and Gingham ✩

✩ Gingham and Silver ✩
✩ Bold Prints and Glitter ✩
✩ Floral Prints and Stripes ✩
✩ Stripes and Studs ✩
✩ Ruffles and Mesh ✩
✩ Mesh and Sheer ✩
✩ Sheer and Florals ✩
✩ Stripes and Cold Shoulder ✩
✩ Florals and Gingham ✩
✩Gingham and Bold Prints ✩

Now I’m going to talk about a few of the trends that I like the most, and give examples of my fashion and any styles that I myself have worn during the summer so far.

Stripes are a go in my wardrobe at ALL times of the year and in all seasons. I have striped tops, dresses and various other items, striped pieces in my opinion don’t ever go out of style! Check out my latest Fashion purchases on that named category to see what my latest fashion spends have been on. Mainly T-Shirts if I’m honest, some of which are very much on trend right now…

So what I noticed more about this summer more than any other in recent years, was how many brands got on the ‘Floral’s for Summer’ idea. This is a simple one of course, everyone knows how much flowers thrive in the warmer months of the year. Yet it was different somehow. People were combining unusual colours and prints that had never before seen each other. Next time you’re shopping take a look at Floral Fashions…

Let’s get down to some of my examples now, and how I have recently styled them.

✩ Florals and Gingham / Gingham and Florals ✩

I adore Gingham, and until a couple of years ago I barely had any of it in my wardrobe. These Shorts I already did a separate review on, but I wanted to explain why they were so on trend still. They combine two trends, Floral Print and the Gingham Print, in one item. Not only that but depending on what you choose to partner them with, could mean your outfit ticks several ‘On Trend’ boxes in one go!

Shorts from BooHoo (See My Individual Review For More Details)

Here I am in my Gingham and Floral outfit. I love how the flowers really stand out on the pattern.

✩✩

✩ Sheer and / or Mesh in Fashion ✩

Sheer Mesh T-Shirts are also on trend right now, I had this lovely Floral one from New Look. Check out my review of it by clicking New Look on my categories.

✩✩✩

✩ Florals and Bold Prints ✩

A really good example of Bold Prints and Florals are these other Shorts I got also from BooHoo. Comfortable and affordable, these excellent shorts have such a vibrant pattern, and really stand out. I would pair them with a plain black bardot top, a double Fashion ensemble to ensure a great looking Summer outfit.

✩ Gingham / Chequered Print and Bright Colours ✩

I absolutely love to recycle old clothing into new trends. This year I’ve been able to dig out my ‘vintage’ chequered pieces, such as these two skirts. And then pair them with new items such as bold print and brightly coloured T-Shirts. One is around twelve years old and from New Look, the other is around eight years old and was from Primark (and yes I can still fit in them both). Recycling your older items is a great way to stay up to date with the latest trends, plus you never know when items such as these will be in fashion again, sometimes it’s not very long at all!

✩ Embroidery and Denim ✩

Another trend I particularly like is the embroidery one. I am really getting into this, it brings back all the 1990’s Fashion from when I was growing up. What I actually plan to do is make my own shorts, but I have cheated slightly, and gotten a pair that was already started with patches. I am going to add my Iron On Patches that I have received inside my various Treat Boxes, on to these shorts to make them unique. Here is a shot of them with the patches, but I have yet to decide on my final design.

You could choose to put patches on any kind of Denim item, I liked how these would brighten up the black, but they work just as well with blue too!

These shorts will look great this Summer with either a crop top or with a white tee with very little pattern to allow the embroidery to take central focus.

Another way Embroidery has been used in Fashion in recent months is to line T-Shirts, on either the hems or the sleeves, or both. Here are examples from Dorothy Perkins that I have purchased this year. They go excellent with a variety of Denim colours. Check out my DP section on the main page for my reviews.

✩ Cold Shoulder / Bardot and Lace ✩

Finally, another style I want to discuss is the Cold Shoulder one. As I mentioned earlier in the post, the Bardot style and the Cold Shoulder trend have both been reinvented for modern day fashion, and I have to say I really took to both. I never thought it would suit me, but actually I am happy to wear both tops and dresses. Here is one example, where I have paired my BooHoo Gingham Shorts with a Lace Cold Shoulder Top from Dorothy Perkins.

Here I am in this outfit. I really like combining trends like these to make my own style.

Thank you for reading this Fashion post today, I really hope you have enjoyed reading about the latest trends and my takes on how to make them unique for yourself.

BooHoo Gingham Floral Shorts Review

BooHoo Gingham Floral Shorts Review and Try On

Check out how awesome these floral shorts look on! They look even better in person too, the camera doesn’t do them justice in my honest opinion.

I wanted something current and new for the summer, beach days being one thing I regularly undertake. Here I am at a beach, wearing said shorts, with my accompanying choice of white tee with Dragonflies on, staying within a nature theme (tee from Primark). Sadly it wasn’t quite warm enough to wear them with bare legs, and I feel the black leggings make them stand out anyway against the sand.

My Overall Review Scores for these Shorts are;

Value for Money 5/5
Fit To Size 5/5
Comfort 5/5
Detailing 5/5
Durability 5/5
Appearance 5/5

Details
Materials; 95% Polyester and 5% Elastane
Wash at 30 degrees

At just £10.00 these shorts are a real bargain this summer. Whether you are going on holiday or you just want some new beach wear for SS17. I recommend these beautiful shorts for several reasons. The first is that the price is excellent for the quality of the fabric, they are in no way see through, and are thick and soft to touch. They sit at the waist and are great for small girls like me, because they make your legs look longer!

I’m so pleased that I purchased these gorgeous summer shorts. They fitted to size and the material is great, comfortable and washes and wears well. The details are also excellent, the gingham is so on trend right now which I love, and to combine that style with summer florals is just a winner in my eyes. Both for my wardrobe and for my style.

Here is the link to the shorts on the BooHoo website for those who want to take a closer look.

Thank you for reading this review today, I hope you will visit Severn Wishes blog again soon for another Fashion post. Until then, happy shopping!

A special thank you to my partner in crime, my best friend, Megan, for taking the photographs of me at the beach.

BooHoo MCR Charity Tee – The Bee Tee

BooHoo MCR Charity Tee – Bee Tee

As many of you will know, the United Kingdom has been through some very difficult times of recent, with terror attacks rocking our country. Like many other people I was lucky to not be directly affected, but still mourning the loss of my fellow Britain’s. And as a whole country, we looked at ways in which we could help those still in need.

I regularly donate to charities, and I wanted to do my bit this time but was unsure how. But then I saw that BooHoo were going to do a range of t-shirts. They wanted to raise funds for the victims of the terror attack that occurred in Manchester at the Ariana Grande concert.

As soon as my size was available I ordered, knowing that BooHoo were donating 100% of the profits from each of the items sold direct to the MCR emergency fund. This pleased me because I knew the money would go directly to its cause.

I chose the Bee Tee one. My reasons behind that were for two things in particular and I do love going to Manchester. It was a city I visited regularly growing up and my husband and I had our first date there as well, so it holds a special place in my heart. The other reason is because long before I was a blogger, I classed myself as a nature photographer. I adore nature and making images of it, and Bee’s are something I macro a lot during the warmer months.

When the top arrived I was pleasantly surprised by its quality, this wasn’t just something that was mass produced in order to make the money quickly. BooHoo has chosen good quality fabric and the print was straight and correctly applied. This is the whole reason that I am reviewing this item, not only are you helping a great cause by purchasing, but you’re also getting a wonderful item to wear yourself.

It was a brilliant white colour and the Manchester Bee really stands out. This t-shirt is made from 100% Cotton, which is why it’s so nice to wear. The fit was good, I chose a Small, and was happy I did. As you will see in my images below, it fitted well to my size in both shoulders and length.

(Excuse my no makeup look – fresh home from work and I just had to try it on! Which is why it was creased too ha ha!)

My Overall Review Scores

Value for Money 5/5
Fit To Size 5/5
Comfort 5/5
Detailing 5/5
Durability 5/5
Appearance 5/5

I have washed and worn the tee, and although it does crease easily a cool iron is all that is needed to bring this tee back to looking great. It is extremely comfortable and also has a good length as well. It looks perfect with coloured jeans.

I’m so pleased that I not only decided to buy this top but also to help BooHoo raise some money for MCR. What better way to help victims of something so awful, but still end up with an item to remind you of how strong we can be when we support each other and stand together.

So thank you BooHoo, for this opportunity to help, I will treasure my Bee Tee.

Thank you for reading this review today, below you will find the links to the BooHoo website and the tops still available if you wish to help the charity yourself.

BooHoo Cat Face Bodycon Dress

Today’s blog post is a short review of a dress that I purchased for Halloween this year. A fabulous bodycon dress at a great price from BooHoo.

This black bodycon dress has a printed white cat face on the front. It is made out of 95% cotton and 5% elastane. The item is very soft and comfortable to wear, I would even consider wearing this regularly, I don’t feel that it’s just for Halloween because it isn’t scary and doesn’t depict anything specific enough for Halloween.

Anyone who follows me on social media know that I am a cat mummy and a huge fan of all cats in general, so this is an ideal choice for me to add to my wardrobe. I think I would be brave enough to wear it without a specific reason to do so.

boohoo-cat-full-res-sw The dress is flattering because of the bodycon style, and I have always liked to wear this sort of dress. I stand at just over the top end of petite, and this trend looks great on someone of my height when paired with some heels, I always feel taller in slimmer fitting dresses.

boohoo-cat-res-swThe cat face is very cool, the unusual shapes that make it up seem three dimensional as you wear the outfit.

Here is another photograph of me wearing the dress, it ends half way down my thighs. The sleeve length was also perfect for me, I like sleeves to end at the edge of my wrist. The neckline is flattering due to the shape and I appreciated that the dress wasn’t too low cut either.

boohoo-cat-dress-res-swMy final review of this dress is as follows;
Quality 5/5
Value for Money 5/5
Appearance 5/5
Comfort 5/5
